Royal baby on the way

The royal baby is on the way.  Kensington Palace announced at 7.30am that the Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in Paddington in London in the early stages of labour.  Kate was seen going into the hospital about an hour or so earlier by a photographer and the official confirmation that the duchess has begun the long process of bringing the future king or queen of England into the world was made soon afterwards.

 

Kate was most likely not wearing a nice little pill box with veil on her way to hospital - the Duchess is now in the Lindo Wing awaiting the arrival of her first baby

 

Poor Kate has gone into labour on what is expected to be the hottest day of the year so far with temperatures in central London (ie Paddington) predicted to go as high as 34 Celsius.  Thunderstorms are also forecast - although some old wives' tales say that thunder or impending storms can bring on labour.  In which case the Duchess, who is at least a week overdue now, may have been very glad to see those storms on the weather forecast.  As she's said to have been craving veggie curry through her pregnancy, extra hot food was never going to start her labour off.
