Royalty in rubber boots - the willies were out in force for the Norwegian royal family as they all went to a special outdoor service for the 40th birthday of Crown Princess Mette-Marit
The Crown Princess' children and their cousins, Maud, Leah and Emma Behn, were all in wellies to cope with the slippy conditions while Queen Sonia stole the show in a red coat and hat. The ceremony was conducted by Gunnar Stalsett, former bishop of Oslo, and the 350 guests included friends of the princess as well as people associated with her charity work.

Prince Haakon Magnus turned 40 in July when his wife held a two day party for him which culminated with the heir to the throne parachuting into one of the music events that formed part of the celebrations. And the couple have already marked their big birthdays with a series of official portraits while their fellow Norwegians can celebrate by sticking their faces on their letters as special stamps were released for the occasion.
