Royal rivalry on Spain visit

There was some serious competing going on as the new Dutch king and queen arrived for the visit to Spain.  It was nothing to do with who had the best shift dress, accessories or side to the camera.  This was a case of royal one upmanship that might not yet be done and it involved boys and their toys.  It's not clear who decided to start it but King Willem-Alexander flew his own place into the Torrejon air field scoring big points on the royal DIY charts.  Not to be outdown, Prince Felipe stepped behind the wheel of a very big, swish and powerful car and drove them all to the Zarzeula Palace for lunch with King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia.  Planes versus fast cars - now that's a royal rivalry.

Big smiles, big planes and big cars.  It's been a big day all round.
