NYC hearts Kate

Kate is in New York.  The Duchess of Cambridge, along with her husband, arrived in the city that never sleeps just after bedtime for most royal watchers in the UK.Kate and William started their first trip to the Big Apple to the sound of screams and cheers as they arrived at the Carlyle Hotel in the city.

The royal couple are in New York for three days with a diary of engagements that won't leave much time for Christmas shopping - or putting their feet up. Kate, who is five months pregnant, chose a maroon coat by Seraphine for her first NYC appearance. The couple headed into the Carlyle for a quick breather before their first official appearance of the tour.

First on the royal to do list was a dinner for the American Friends of the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. The meal was held at a private residence at Gramercy Park in the city.

The couple returned to the Carlyle to rest up before their full programme kicks in on December 8th. But judging by the reception they've had so far, NYC already hearts Wills and Kate.
