Diana looms large as Charlotte's name is announced

She has a name to honour her grandfather, great grandmother and paternal grandmother but one of those three is definitely capturing the imagination of the newspaper headline writers more than the others. As the name of the the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is mulled over in the papers, the final one of her three has got everyone talking. Diana looms large.

The Express chooses to note that the Cambidges have paid tribute to both of William's parents with their name choice. Meanwhile the Daily Mail focuses on the tribute the Duke of Cambridge has paid to his mother by choosing her name as one of those to be born by his daughter.

The Daily Mirror lets the name of Diana float into prominence as the letters of the new baby's name get slightly larger as they go on in their headline for May 5th 2015.  There are three images of the three people that little Charlotte's name comes from, ending with another famous image of Diana.

The Star mentions how the name honours William's mother and there is Diana in bold capitals in the headline again although the paper also focuses on the last part of Charlotte's first name asking a question many have since the announcement - will she be a Charlie or a Lottie?

The Daily Telegraph places the new baby's photo and her full name at the top of an otherwise crowded front page as election fever mounts.

But the Guardian and Independent choose not to share the name on their front pages. Despite that, Charlotte dominates the news again. Just three days old and the Cambridge's princess is already a global superstar with a name to match.
