Royal Wardrobe, part one: Queen Letizia

OK, it's a bit late but it's worth the wait. There are almost endless royal outfits in the Royal Wardrobe this week so we're doing it installments starting with the star of the week, Queen Letizia. Not only did we get lots of appearances from her consort on her French trip she seemed to change outfit every fifteen minutes which means you need to sit down with a cup of tea and get ready for a bumper Royal Wardrobe. The queen of on trend went to Paris and got through seven outfits in three days including this red cocktail dress which, enhanced by the 20 inspired hair and dramatic make up, is the look of the week.

It was striking and stunning in equal measure and was worn for a gala dinner at the Elysee Palace at the end of day one.

Add in a pair of dark claret shoes and it's one of Letizia's most unusual evening looks but a winner none the less.

The queen had begun day on in a cream suit with golden embellishments which was rather reminiscent of something her mother-in-law, Queen Sofia, might have chosen.

She changed just a few hours later into a green and blue print skirt with blue shirt first worn to a lunch with the President of Italy. It's a super stylish spring look but this queen is going through an odd shoe phase and she chose a pair of very skimpy and rather uncomfortable looking black strappy sandals that didn't really do much for the overall look.

Day two began in a cream two piece suit with large belt which looked just perfect in Paris.

But it was on for less than three hours before Letizia moved onto an orange red sleeveless jacket with matching skirt as she headed off to meet the Spanish born Prime Minister of France and his wife.

It was on trend if a little severe looking but that didn't matter because Letizia had bought a black and white mix coat to wear with it and despite the warm weather, on it went. And then off it came. And then on it went again for lunch inside before coming off again to go outside. And when it wasn't being worn, the queen was carrying it or popping it on her lap and draping it over an arm during photos. The coat took over Paris.

And it's off again.....

And there was even an in between moment when the queen draped it over her shoulders at her husband's big moment at the National Assembly where he addressed members in a well received speech in French.

The evening saw the royal couple at a reception with Letizia picking a black cocktail dress and more strappy shoes.

The final day saw the Queen of Spain go for a more informal look as she chose a beige sundress, snakeskin sandals and a huge pair of sunnies that looked very St Trop in the city of light.

Her only other appearance of the week was in Madrid where she and King Felipe took part in ceremonies marking Armed Forces Day. The outfit was easily the best day look of the week as the queen looked cool and chic in a white two piece suit with a chiffon pleated skirt. It might even have been the look of the week but for some more strappy sandals that just didn't match the occasion. But it's been a good week for Letizia fans with more new outfits in seven days than we've seen from the queen in a long time. A royal wardrobe bonanza.
