Royal Wardrobe Canada: the end

And then we came to the end. After eight days, dozens of changes and plenty of colour, Royal Visit Canada faded to white as the Duchess of Cambridge went pale and interesting for the final part of her latest tour. We got skinny trousers, lots of pale and a rather striking pair of check shoes. Here's the final installment of Royal Wardrobe Canada.

The white top, black trousers combo is a bit of a classic that has taken many a royal lady through days of engagements. Kate's version included a pair of slim fitting trousers by Zara, a cream top with ribbing and an off white jacket.

We got another solitary brass button on the waist of the jacket and large lapels - it's another Kate staple - but the really interesting part of this outfit was saved until last.

Kate's made a couple of interesting footwear choices on this tour, as well as bringing out the dreaded wedges, but her last selection was easily the most daring for this duchess. We got a pair of block heeled, check patterned loafers complete with tassle on the pointed toe. Considering Kate has made her nude or black heels almost a uniform over the last five years, this was a real departure and all the better for it.

The afternoon included life on the ocean wave even if they did stick to the harbour at Victoria in a ship that never really left the shallows. Kate brought back the waxed parka we first met in Haida Gwaii on day seven and a pair of white plimsolls which can only given gym chic a boost as the new season gets under way.

After that, it was back to formal as the Cambridge family prepared to depart Canada with the first leg of their journey being by seaplane. Kate wrapped up in a cream coloured Catherine Walker coat.

It features another high collar, a belt effect picked out in darker stitching, a slightly flared skirt and pocket details just below the waist.

She ended as she had begun by wearing the Maple Leaf brooch, the third outing this symbolic piece of jewellery has had on this tour.

Cambridge family left Canada as perfectly colour co-ordinated as they had arrived. Royal Wardrobe Canada all packed up and heading for home.
